Recognition of sequence of inputs or outputs not interrupted by change in attention required.

Y,N can only be used to link output via/with association strength. i.e. Y, N only give association strength for output.

Possible reasons for stop doing:

  get Y or N input

  output has associated N

  whenever output anything

or drop doing level until associated out or in attracts attention.

Doing things in different circumstances but same stimulus depends on the context. The context must be recognized - that is where the problem is.

- Idea of reward and punishment only used to associate idea of output with idea of input.

- Pain and reward and ideas of pain and reward should have a different attention state. (see 174 - 19th Sept 1972)

Must think about the possibility of having a short term memory and long term memory. A filtering process takes place as events are passed from short-term memory into long term memory. This process could possibly reorder, remove or add things so that long-term memory was organized correctly. See 145 - 12th March 1971. This would also imply that different recall processes would take place on short-term memory and long term memory simply because they would be organized slightly differently.

Think about adding a reflexive output when punished = crying.

When attention is paid to a thought and there is no data there a blank should be returned - because attention was paid to that address.

Only certain association links can exist. Input – Output, Input – ASIN, Input – ASOUT etc.

ASIN – Input can not exist

ASOUT – Input can not exist

ASIN – Output can not exist

What meaning do they have if they do exist?

  1. Punishment not inversely proportional to reward.
  2. Avoidance does not become extinct.
  3. Fine grain attention used in a skilled act.
  4. Automatic output not attention necessary
  5. Good (reward) comes from inside (not sensory). Punishment – bad can come from senses.
  6. Curiosity is a drive – sensory change.

Automatic output caused by a second processor which executes and is interruptible.

Associations – is associated if no other occurrence of this type of data has occurred up to this one. E.G. types A,B,C.  A associated with C as long as no more than 1 group of Bs has occurred between C and A.

Groups of Bs = BBBB (n times) in Sequences CCCCBBBAAAAA [Cs are associated with As] or CCCCBBCCCCCBB [no association after the second Cs]

Must set up a steady, constant environment in which to teach Adaptron in. Must have all responses well defined.

A possible curiosity drive might be constructed by having output whenever two sequential attentions and data are identical. i.e. a drive to always maintain a changing sensory input.

A dynamic sense is one in which when a response is made the input changes. i.e. person has (some) control over what input is generated. - motion - sight. A static sense is one in which no control is possible whatever occurs is received - hearing speech, unable to turn hearing off.

We need a fundamental drive. Something that when it is not received for a long enough period will cause the adaptron to react. This drive could be for reward. When not received for long enough adaptron could start outputting something - Much like a baby crying for food.

The recall of pain does not hurt. - no attraction of attention it just serves to stop the possible execution of motor response.

Internal ideas should be one character long. I.e. each character represents a concept. Somehow input and outputs can be many characters long. Output handled by processor to do automatic output once initiated. Recognition must be handled by memory recall. Really though these many characters sensory data need not be handled since the character data is really recorded only at change or attraction of attention time.

Thoughts are data driven and verge between reflexive ideas and directed associations.
